Swim with Whale Sharks Cancun | Ocean Tours Mexico
Today, my family and I went to swim with whale sharks in Cancun with Ocean Tours Mexico and it was Awesome!
The best time to swim with whale sharks in Cancun is the summer season from June to September and we arrived just in time to have an experience of a lifetime.
We stayed in Cancun in one of the nicest bed-and-breakfasts that we could afford. Honestly everyting was great but we needed to get out and my wife and 12 year old child wanted to do something cool. We really wanted to do whale shark tour and some of our friends highly recommended Ocean Tours, so we booked the tour and crossed our fingers for good weather.
The company picked us up in the hotel that was next to our bed-and-breakfast, it was early but we were so exited. The guide introduced himself to us and explained how the entire tour would work from start to finish. He told us lots of interesting facts about whale sharks, and it was interesting to learn that the biggest aggregation of whale sharks takes place in the waters off of Cancun.
When we arrived to the Pier, Punta Sam, just past Cancun, they offered us a nice breakfast with some fruit, coffee and some pastries, yummy. Exactly what we needed to get some energy and start the day. At this point we were so excited we couldn`t wait to get into the water with the whale sharks.
Everyone say hi!!!!
Dolphins, Manta Rays, and Whale Sharks
We got into the boat, our crew Juan and Pepe, were fun and helpful, but our guide Tomas, was the best. On the way to the whale sharks the whole boat came alive with excitement as 3 dolphins started riding the bow wave. We also saw a number of turtles and a manta ray.
Just amazing being on the boat and having these 3 dolphin friends racing with us!
So we arrived at the whale shark site and saw our first whale shark just a couple of feet from the boat. The dorsal fins of hundreds of whale sharks were protruding out of the water around us, we could not believe it. The water was so clear that you could see the entire body of the whale sharks when they swam close to the boat.
Me, snorkeling with the biggest fish in the Ocean!
The most amazing animal that I ever seen! Thanks Ocean Tours!
While we were swimming with the Whale Sharks these Giant Manta Rays came by to say HI!
We sank into the water and come back to the surface to follow our guide to take us as close as possible to the whale shark; and there it was!… Awesome, majestic, beautiful but huge!!!!!, we start swimming next to it, because of the excitement I never felt tired, I just couldn’t believe that I was snorkeling with the biggest fish in the world. All the spots, and how docile and nice they are. Of course there was a point that our speed did not compared to its speed and we had to stop. The boat came to pick us up, we go back to the boat with a smile on our face, we just cannot believe that we were there…
It´ s like a dream come true! my wife and the Whale Shark!
The guide had us all prepare our masks and snorkels and we jumped into the water two people at a time accompanied by a guide. Seeing a whale shark underwater is beyond words, it is something that has to be experienced. We swam alongside these massive fish until we could not keep pace anymore, and then we turned around to see another 2 or 3 swimming right at us! The entire group jumped into the water at least 5 times and by the end nobody had any energy left to swim anymore, it was simply amazing. Everyone was grinning ear to ear and buzzing with excitement.
My wife that normally feels seasick was fine, probably because before we got into the boat our guide offered us a seasick pill and also an acupressure wristband so she would not feel badI think in fact, she enjoyed it the most! My son was so happy and I was the happiest of all, think about it, being in the middle of the ocean swimming with these animals, and loving every minute of it. The best part was seeing how happy my entire family was, it was a once in a lifetime experience.
Snorkeling and Lunch in Isla Mujeres, Punta Norte
After swimming we went to Isla Mujeres to Punta Norte, (North point), to have a nice and chilled out snorkel at the reef, and to have some delicious ceviche. Punta Norte in Isla Mujeres is considered as one of the top 10 beaches in the world.
Playa Norte Snorkeling
Nothing like a beer in Paradise!
Traditional Ceviche, the most amazing and Fresh food that I’ve ever tasted!
After that they took us back to our hotel after having the greatest time of our life swimming with whale sharks in Cancun.
Thanks Ocean Tours Mexico.
